SEA OF CLOUDS by Ajieboy Alia
One of the most
astounding and exhilarating trips that you will take in your life is a trip
with your best friend. Traveling brings an entirely new wonder into your life;
you journey through various cultures, new places, strange faces, and distinct
tastes. It’s true what they say: it matters who you take those journeys with.
Maragusan one of the
progressive towns of Compostela Valley, the summer capital of Davao region. Its
lake is situated about 7800 feet above sea level, the total land area of 39,427
hectares a typhoon-free as it is surrounded by mountain ranges, home of the
world’s largest individual flower. But that’s head of the story. My best friend
and I visited the first-class municipality, we choose to witness the sun
rise in that part of the world, the sight was marvelous. The kaleidoscopic rays
of the sun greeted me, and I felt the cold air kissing my skin. The mountains
are covered with clouds looking down, the town
was nowhere in sight. One word to describe it, it is a “Breathtaking”
scene. After admiring the place, we took pictures and we grab that opportunity
to relax as well as make memories with my best friend.
Indeed, travel takes
on a deeper meaning when shared with someone who feels the same way you do
about seeing the world. After all, there’s a reason why we call them our BEST
friend. The best adventures must be taken with only the best people in our
life. Fortunately, there’s this girl I can always travel with and have fun with
despite the mishaps and misadventures.
THE
PRESTINE BEAUTY OF LAKE VENADO by Graceygrix Bolonia
I
love to travel. Plain and simple. And it’s a passionate affair, not hyperbole.
Ever since I was a kid, I had a sense of
adventure. I have always loved the adventure of travel — the unknown, something
different, something new. And I feel the same way as we took the challenge of going
to Lake Venado. Lake Venado is an endorheic lake located at the foot of Mount
Apo in the province of North Cotabato, Mindanao, Philippines. It is the second
highest lake in the country after Bulalacao Lake of Mount Tabayoc. From afar
you would actually think that it is just a couple of hours drive from the city
proper when it is not, the journey going there is not easy as it seems, it took
us nearly half the day just by getting the jump off. We passed many difficult
trails with an uphill terrain farmland with some small community along the way,
then forests of dense vegetation.
Upon reaching the vicinity of the lake we met many
mountain climbers because it is also a popular camp site it is called the
"Tent City of the Mountain". It is very refreshing to see new faces that
is also as eager as you to climb the mountain. The camp beside the lake amazed me
by its charm and uplifted my spirit. The surroundings of the peak are so relaxing,
with cool breeze coming from the mountain and the trees around it. It is like a
paradise, at the peak of the mountain I saw the pristine beauty of Lake Venado.
There are times that the view is not clear because of the clouds but in our case,
we are very lucky because it is a clear day, I can see the stunning beauty of
Lake Venado and it is so amazing! Even though it is very tiring it is all worth
it because the best view comes after the hardest climb.
AWA-O by Caren Soronio
Water is life and often
revered for its healing properties. Modern science explains this phenomenon
under the principles of hydrotherapy but there’s often more to it than what can
be explained especially when it abounds in nature.
A fresh start in year 2019
is being with your family and making new memories with them. In our case we
choose to adventure the unspoiled tourist attraction in our Municipality the
Awao Falls. Awao Falls is located at Barangay Awao, Monkayo Compostela Valley
about 30 mins Skylab (Motorcycle) ride from town proper or if you have that
multicab, single motor or any kind of transportation except big ones that is
strong enough to cross the rough roads. In our case we used the multicab of my
aunt, to be honest I was nervous the whole time going there, we followed a dirt
road, crossed a wide shallow stream, and went uphill for 15 minutes and it was
nerve wrecking I can't count how many times I shouted the name of God. Good
thing God hears me we arrived safely.
After 30 mins. ride and 10
mins trek we finally arrived at the foot of the Majestic Awao Falls. The long
tiring and bumpy ride were all worth it. I was amazed at the full view of the
Awao Falls, even my family can't hide their admiration. No, it wasn’t hundreds
of meters tall nor was it spewing insane amounts of water per second. The Awao
Falls had an elegance in it that I had not met yet. It had enough scale for a
“wow moment,” and more remarkably, the water didn’t fall in one single drop. It
descended gently over a mildly vegetated sloped wall seemingly forming a
beautiful fan-shaped curtain of water. It is the best way to relax while
appreciating the serene view of nature especially me because I want to relieve
all the stress and think for my plans this year 2019. The water is also good to
wash away my frustrations and I can also get a free spa using the drops of
water. We really enjoyed the trip and we get to have a quality time before the
holiday season ends. Going back home even if we are tired, we wore brightest
smiles because of the memories we’ve made in the start of 2019 and that is best
priceless moment I've ever seen in my life. Certainly, the best things in life
are the people you love, the places you go and the memories you made.
